Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Super Food World, by Valerie X (R)
Super Food World
Author: Valerie X
Length: 6 chapters; ~12,000 words
Warnings: set in S6, past 6.11 Doublemeat Palace (spoilers: Joyce is dead, and Buffy and Spike hooked up)
Pairing: Spike/Buffy
Categories: Drama, Angst, Established Relationship
Summary: Spike and Buffy go grocery shopping.
Review:
Season 6 and 7 of Buffy definitely had their issues, and were not my favorite season by a longshot. It had taken my favorite snark/hatesex pairing (Spike/Buffy) and made a badly written angstfest of it. But this fic makes it better! The Spike/Buffy is understated and witty, and I love how they're leaning on each other for support during a time of utter sucktasticness for both of them. This fic has wonderful characterization, and doesn't gloss over the fucked-up-ness of both characters, and it made me think: I may not have gotten my Spike/Buffy snarkily ever after, but moments like these still make me hope that those crazy kids might just make it.
