Harry Potter: Ain't No Friend of Mine, by tkp (NC-17)
Ain't No Friend of Mine
Author:
tkp
Warnings: one scene that might constitute as animal abuse.
Length: 4 chapters; ~33,000 words
Pairing: Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy
Categories: Angst, Mystery, Action/Adventure, Romance
Summary: Draco has to face the truth of who he is. The truth has long hair and slobbers.
Review:
This long, satisfying fic takes a slightly darker bent on many of the characterizations after Book 7, but still retains a core of recognizable canon, even for Malfoy (I know, I was shocked too.) I loved Draco as a dog, who is still so snarky and him that it makes me smile. The mystery and monster of the week are fascinating from not only a plot-related view, but thematically as well. But what really stole the show for me was Harry and how isolated he's become after his story is (figuratively) finished and shelved. For HP purists, Harry's characterization comes off as much more socially inept and self-involved than shown in the book, but for those who like to make the hero cry, or just like crazy!Harry, than I bet you'll enjoy this.
